When something goes wrong with your Peloton, your first instinct is probably to contact Peloton support. You get a chatbot. Then a form. Then a wait. And eventually someone who has never touched the equipment reads from a script.
PCMP offers something different: a $85 phone or video diagnostic session with a PCMP technician who actually knows these machines. Here's how it works and what it can resolve.
What is a PCMP phone diagnostic?
It's a scheduled call or video session with your PCMP technician. You describe what's happening. They ask targeted questions - thekind that actually narrow down the cause. If video is involved, they may ask you to show specific areas of the equipment.
The goal is accurate diagnosis. Not a generic list of things to try. A PCMP technician knows the difference between a noise that comes from a loose crank arm versus a worn bottom bracket versus a misaligned belt - and they can often tell from your description and a short video.
What can actually be fixed over the phone
More than you might expect. These are issues PCMP technicians regularly resolve remotely:
- Frozen or slow touchscreen: Guided restart sequence, clearing cached data, andsettings adjustments can resolve most software-based screen issues.
- Calibration problems: If your resistance feels off or your metrics don't match your effort, a PCMP technician can walk you through a calibration check and correction.
- Connectivity and app issues: Peloton's software and app connections can be finicky. Most connectivity and login problems resolve with the right guidance.
- Error codes: Many error codes have specific, documented causes. A PCMP technician can identify what yours means and what it takes to clear it.
- Noise identification: With a short video, a PCMP technician can often pinpoint the source of a clicking, squeaking, or grinding noise - and tell you whether it's something you can address yourself or whether it needs hands-on work.
- Minor adjustments: Seat height adjustments, handlebar positioning, basic tension checks - a PCMP technician can guide you through these step by step.
What requires a home visit
Some things can't be resolved remotely. A PCMP technician will tell you directly if your situation is one of them:
- Physical hardware failures: Broken pedals, failed screens, damaged belts - these require hands-on repair.
- Parts replacement: If a component needs to be replaced, a technician needs to be on-site.
- Anything that requires torque: Crank arms, bottom brackets, and other components that need to be tightened to spec can't be done remotely.
- Complex electrical issues: Wiring problems, sensor failures, and power supply issues need a technician on-site with the right tools.
If your issue falls into this category, the phone session still saves you time - you'll know exactly what's wrong and what needs to happen before the technician arrives.
How the $85 fee works
The $85 covers the PCMP technician's time and expertise forthe diagnostic session. It's non-refundable regardless of outcome - because the value is the diagnosis itself. Even if the issue requires a follow-up visit, you leave the call knowing exactly what's wrong, what's needed, and what itwill cost.
Annual PCMP members get unlimited phone diagnostic includedin their membership.
